The Player uses color to indicate various situations to the user.
The current word being solved is indicated by coloring each square in that word with pale blue. The fact that the word is an Across word or a Down word is immediately obvious. Below is an example of an Across word.

The current Across and Down clues are also color coded. Here is an example:

Slightly more complex is the color coding for revealed and verified answers in the grid.
There are several color flags that are used to indicate various conditions.
- Squares containing correct answers are not marked to reduce the visual clutter. Squares containing correct answers are not editable.
- Squares containinng incorrect answers are indicated with red flags. The user may still edit the squares.

- Squares containing revealed answers are indicated with blue flags. The user may not edit these squarees.

- Squares containing correct answers that were previously marked as incorrect are marked with green flags.

- Squares containing revealed answers that were previously marked as incorrect are marked with yellow flags.
